Does changing an issue's priority affect future issues?

Issue

I manually changed an issue’s priority in Sentry. I want to know whether that change affects future similar issues or anything else in the system.

Applies To

  • All SaaS Customers and Self-Hosted Users

  • Issues

  • Issue Priority

Resolution

Manually changing an issue’s priority does not change the priority of future similar issues, and it does not change how Sentry assigns priority to other issues.

It does change how Sentry treats that issue going forward.

What changes for that issue

Sentry can raise or lower an issue’s priority automatically when event volume escalates or de-escalates. If you set priority manually, Sentry locks that issue’s priority. Sentry will no longer auto-adjust it when volume escalates.

You can set priority from Issue Details or from the priority control in the Issues stream.

Details are in the Issue Priority documentation.
