Verifying your Email at Signup

How the email verification step works when creating a new Sentry account, including link expiry, browser requirements, troubleshooting, and common error messages.

When you sign up for Sentry, you'll receive a verification email before your account is created. This article explains how the process works and what to do if something goes wrong.

How it works

  1. Submit the signup form. You'll see a "Verify your email" screen: "We sent a link to {email}. Open it to finish setting up your account."

  2. Open the verification email (subject: Confirm Email, sender: [email protected]) and click the link.

  3. Your account and organization are created and you're taken to onboarding.

No account is created until you click the verification link — so if something goes wrong, it's always safe to restart the signup process.

Important: open the link in the same browser

The verification link must be opened in the same browser where you started signing up. Opening it in a different browser, a different device, or an incognito window will fail with an error. If this happens, restart the signup process in the browser you plan to use, then click the new verification link there.

Link expiry

  • Email + password signup: link expires after 2 hours

  • SSO signup: link expires after 1 hour

If your link has expired, restart the signup process to receive a new one and verify promptly.

I didn't receive the verification email

  1. Check your spam or junk folder. Search for the subject "Confirm Email" from [email protected].

  2. Resend the email. If your verification screen has a "resend email" link, use it. If you only see a "Start over" button, click that to restart the signup and trigger a fresh email.

  3. Check for a typo. If you mistyped your email address, use the "Or use a different email" option if it's available, or Start over to correct it.

  4. Wait a minute or two — delivery isn't always instant.

  5. Still nothing? Contact support. Our team can check whether your address has been flagged by our email provider and resolve it.

Note: each time you resend or restart signup counts as a new attempt. If you resend repeatedly in a short period, you may hit a rate limit — wait a few minutes before trying again.
