How can I add tags to Slack notifications from Sentry?

Issue

Users want to include specific tags in their Sentry alerts sent to Slack for better context about the errors.

Applies To

  • All Sentry Customers with a Team plan or greater

  • Sentry Customers with Slack Alerts

Resolution

  1. Ensure tags are included in your events: Before setting up Slack notifications, make sure that the events in Sentry include the tags you want to display.

  2. Set up a Sentry alert with an action to send alerts to Slack

  3. Add tags to the Slack notification: In the alert rule, under Then perform these actions, select Send a notification via Slack. In the show tags field, add the tags you want included in the Slack notification.
