Troubleshooting why Slack alerts are not arriving

Issue

I can see that my alert rule in Sentry was triggered, but I didn't receive a notification in Slack. How do I troubleshoot this?

Resolution

Here are some things that you can check:

  1. Double check that the Slack channel ID is correct in your alert rule

  2. Make sure that the Sentry app is invited in the channel by sending a @sentry message in the channel

  3. Make sure that your slack identity is connected to Sentry by going to your User Settings > Identities here. If it is not, you can send a /sentry link message in Slack

  4. Go to your User Settings > Notifications > Issue Alerts here and make sure that Slack is one of the selected Delivery Methods

  5. If the alert should notify a team, go to your Organization's Settings > Teams > Select a team > Notifications. If the team has not been linked, send a /sentry link team message in the team's corresponding Slack channel

  6. As a last resort, try uninstalling and re-installing the Slack integration

  7. If none of the above help, please reach out to Sentry Support for further assistance
