What does the Throttling option do in Alerts?

Issue

It is unclear exactly what the Throttling option does or why I want to set it, when setting up my alert.

Applies To

  • All Plans

  • Self-hosted

  • Alerts

Resolution

The Throttling option sets the minimum amount of time it can take for the Alert to trigger again for the same issue. So once you get the alert for an issue, it will wait the set amount of time to trigger the alert again for the same issue.

If the alert conditions trigger multiple issues at the same time, you will get an alert for all the issues that triggered the alert.

The Throttling option can be useful if you experience a sudden spike of events for an issue within a very short amount of time. This will help prevent you being spammed with an endless amount notifications or actions for the same issue, when just 1 would of been enough.
