How can I update billing information or credit card on file?

Issue

We would like to change our billing information and/or the credit card on file.

Applies To

  • All non-Enterprise plans

  • Billing

Resolution

You can update this information by going to Organization Settings (bottom left) → Usage & Billing → Subscription → Edit billing information.
If your credit card is not being retained, it may be due to incomplete 3D Secure authentication. Ensure you complete all required steps, such as approving the transaction in your banking app or entering a one-time passcode (OTP), when prompted.

Steps to Resolve Credit Card Retention Issues

  1. Re-add the Credit Card:

    • Navigate to your organization’s billing settings.

    • Go to Usage & BillingSubscriptionEdit billing information.

    • Ensure you have the necessary permissions (Billing or Owner).

  2. Complete 3D Secure Authentication:

    • When prompted by your bank, complete the required authentication steps. This may include:

      • Approving the transaction in your banking app.

      • Entering a one-time passcode (OTP).

      • Following any other verification prompts from your bank.

  3. Pay Outstanding Invoices (if applicable):

    • Go to Usage & BillingSubscriptionReceipts & Notifications.

    • Select View all receipts and locate any unpaid invoices.

    • Open the unpaid receipt and click Pay Now.

  4. Troubleshoot Persistent Issues:

    • If 3D Secure authentication continues to fail, try using a different credit card.

    • Contact your card issuer to ensure there are no blocks or restrictions on 3D Secure transactions.

Note: You must have either Billing or Owner permissions to both access and/or make changes to this information.

Additionally, Sentry does not store credit card numbers directly. All payment information is securely processed through Stripe, and completing 3D Secure authentication is mandatory for certain cards and transactions to comply with banking regulations.
