How to Enable Webhooks as an Alert Action in Sentry

Webhooks in Sentry allow you to send notifications to external systems when specific alert conditions are met. However, webhooks will not appear as an action in the alert builder unless they are properly configured. This guide explains how to enable webhooks as an alert action and addresses common questions about the process.

Steps to Enable Webhooks for Alerts

To make a webhook available as an alert action in Sentry:

  1. Create a Custom Integration: Navigate to the Integrations >> Custom Integrations section in your Sentry project settings, create a new custom integration, and provide a Webhook URL.

  2. Enable the “Alert Action” Toggle: During the integration setup, ensure that the “Alert Action” toggle is enabled. This setting allows the webhook to be used in alert rules.

  3. Verify the Integration:

  • Once the integration is saved with a Webhook URL and the "Alert Rule Action" toggle enabled, it will be available as an action in Alerts.

  • Go to Monitors > Alerts > Create Alert. In the Then section, add the action Send a notification via an integration, then select your integration by name.

By following these steps, you can successfully enable webhooks as an alert action in Sentry and streamline your alerting workflows.
